MITOQUINOL MESYLATE

Description

Mitoquinol mesylate, also known as MitoQ, is a revolutionary antioxidant compound specifically designed to target mitochondrial function in skin cells. This novel ingredient is a modified form of ubiquinone (Coenzyme Q10) that has been engineered to penetrate cellular membranes and accumulate within mitochondria more effectively than traditional CoQ10.

The unique structure of mitoquinol mesylate includes a lipophilic triphenylphosphonium cation, which allows it to easily cross cell membranes and concentrate in mitochondria. Once inside, it acts as a powerful antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals and reducing oxidative stress at the source of cellular energy production.

Studies have shown that mitoquinol mesylate can help protect skin cells from UV-induced damage, improve skin elasticity, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Its ability to support mitochondrial function may also enhance cellular energy production, potentially leading to improved skin repair and regeneration processes.

In skincare formulations, mitoquinol mesylate is typically used at concentrations between 0.1% and 0.5%. It is compatible with a wide range of other skincare ingredients and can be incorporated into various product types, including serums, creams, and lotions.
