Methyl lactic acid is a potent alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) derivative that combines the exfoliating properties of lactic acid with enhanced penetration capabilities. This multifunctional ingredient is widely used in skincare formulations for its ability to improve skin texture, promote cell turnover, and enhance hydration. Unlike its parent compound, methyl lactic acid has a smaller molecular size, allowing for deeper skin penetration and potentially more effective results.

In skincare products, methyl lactic acid typically functions as an exfoliant, moisturizer, and pH adjuster.
