macadamia ternifolia seed oil macadamia oil

Description

Macadamia ternifolia seed oil, commonly known as macadamia oil, is a lightweight, non-comedogenic emollient derived from the nuts of the macadamia tree native to Australia. This nutrient-rich oil is characterized by its high concentration of monounsaturated fatty acids, particularly oleic acid (up to 60%), which closely resembles human sebum. This similarity allows macadamia oil to penetrate the skin effectively, providing deep hydration without leaving a greasy residue.

The oil is also abundant in palmitoleic acid, a rare omega-7 fatty acid that supports skin barrier function and promotes cell regeneration. Macadamia oil contains significant levels of squalene, a natural antioxidant that helps protect the skin from environmental stressors and free radical damage. Its vitamin E content further enhances its antioxidant properties and contributes to skin healing and repair.

In skincare formulations, macadamia oil is prized for its ability to soften and smooth the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines, and improve overall skin texture. It is particularly beneficial for dry, mature, or sensitive skin types due to its gentle, non-irritating nature. The oil's stability and resistance to oxidation make it an excellent choice for leave-on products and facial oils.
