ISOSTEARAMIDOPROPYL PG-DIMONIUM CHLORIDE

Description

Isostearamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound commonly used in hair care and skincare formulations. This multifunctional ingredient serves as a conditioning agent, emulsifier, and antistatic agent. Its chemical structure consists of a long-chain fatty acid (isostearic acid) combined with a cationic quaternary ammonium group, providing both hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties.

In hair care products, Isostearamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride improves manageability, reduces static, and enhances overall hair texture. It forms a thin, protective film on the hair shaft, which helps to smooth the cuticle and increase shine. In skincare formulations, it acts as an emollient, helping to soften and moisturize the skin.

This ingredient is particularly effective in leave-in conditioners, hair masks, and moisturizing creams due to its ability to adhere to hair and skin surfaces. It is generally well-tolerated and considered safe for use in cosmetic products at concentrations typically ranging from 0.1% to 5%. However, as with any cosmetic ingredient, some individuals may experience sensitivity or allergic reactions, necessitating patch testing before widespread use.
