ISOMERIZED PALM OIL
Description
Isomerized Palm Oil is a specialized derivative of palm oil that has undergone molecular restructuring to enhance its functional properties for skincare and haircare applications. This process alters the oil's chemical composition, resulting in a more stable and versatile ingredient.
The isomerization process converts some of the unsaturated fatty acids in palm oil to their trans isomers, improving oxidative stability and increasing the melting point. This modification allows Isomerized Palm Oil to maintain a semi-solid consistency at room temperature, making it ideal for formulations that require structure and emollient properties.
In skincare, Isomerized Palm Oil serves as an effective occlusive agent, forming a protective barrier on the skin to prevent moisture loss. It also imparts a smooth, silky feel to products without excessive greasiness. In haircare, it can provide conditioning benefits and help to reduce frizz and improve manageability.
The ingredient's enhanced stability contributes to increased shelf life in cosmetic formulations. However, formulators should be aware of potential sustainability concerns associated with palm oil sourcing and consider using certified sustainable options when possible.
