Description

Isohexadecane is a versatile synthetic hydrocarbon widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. This colorless, odorless liquid is derived from petroleum and serves as an emollient, solvent, and texture enhancer in various skincare and makeup products.

The molecular structure of isohexadecane consists of a branched-chain hydrocarbon with 16 carbon atoms. Its low molecular weight and non-polar nature contribute to its excellent spreading properties and quick absorption into the skin. Isohexadecane forms a thin, non-greasy film on the skin's surface, providing a silky, smooth feel without leaving a heavy residue.

In skincare formulations, isohexadecane acts as an effective moisturizer by reducing transepidermal water loss and improving skin hydration.
