Hydroxypropyltrimonium hydrolyzed whey is a multifunctional cosmetic ingredient derived from whey protein. This quaternary ammonium compound is created through the chemical modification of hydrolyzed whey protein, resulting in a cationic molecule with enhanced hair and skin affinity.

The ingredient functions primarily as a conditioning agent in hair care and skin care formulations. Its positively charged structure allows it to adsorb onto negatively charged surfaces of hair and skin, providing smoothing and softening effects. In hair care products, it can improve combability, reduce static, and enhance manageability.
