HYDROLYZED GLYCOSAMINOGLYCANS

Description

Hydrolyzed glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are powerful moisturizing agents derived from animal connective tissues. These complex carbohydrates play a crucial role in maintaining skin hydration and elasticity. When hydrolyzed, GAGs are broken down into smaller, more easily absorbed molecules that can penetrate the skin's surface.

In skincare formulations, hydrolyzed GAGs act as humectants, drawing moisture from the environment and binding it to the skin. This helps to create a hydrated, plump appearance and can reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, GAGs support the skin's natural barrier function, enhancing its ability to retain moisture and protect against environmental stressors.

The most common types of GAGs used in skincare include hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, and dermatan sulfate. These ingredients are particularly beneficial for dry, mature, or dehydrated skin types. Hydrolyzed GAGs can be found in various skincare products, including serums, moisturizers, and masks. They work synergistically with other hydrating ingredients to provide long-lasting moisture and improve overall skin texture and appearance.
