HYDROGENATED HONEY
Description
Hydrogenated honey is an innovative skincare ingredient derived from natural honey through a hydrogenation process. This transformation alters the molecular structure of honey, enhancing its stability and extending its shelf life while retaining many of its beneficial properties. The hydrogenation process converts some of the sugars in honey into sugar alcohols, resulting in a substance with improved moisturizing capabilities and a smoother texture.
This modified honey derivative exhibits potent humectant properties, effectively attracting and retaining moisture in the skin. It forms a protective barrier on the skin's surface, reducing transepidermal water loss and promoting long-lasting hydration. Hydrogenated honey also possesses mild emollient qualities, helping to soften and smooth the skin's texture.
The ingredient maintains some of the natural antioxidant properties found in regular honey, offering protection against free radical damage and environmental stressors. Its antimicrobial attributes may contribute to maintaining a healthy skin microbiome. Hydrogenated honey is generally well-tolerated by most skin types and can be incorporated into various skincare formulations, including creams, lotions, and serums, making it a versatile option for addressing multiple skin concerns related to hydration and overall skin health.
