HEMA GLUCOSIDE/ETHYLMETHACRYLATE TRIMONIUM CHLORIDE COPOLYMER

Description

HEMA Glucoside/Ethylmethacrylate Trimonium Chloride Copolymer is a specialized synthetic polymer used in advanced skincare and haircare formulations. This multifunctional ingredient combines the properties of a hydrating agent with those of a conditioning polymer. The HEMA (Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate) component provides excellent moisture retention capabilities, while the Ethylmethacrylate Trimonium Chloride portion offers substantive conditioning benefits.

In skincare applications, this copolymer forms a protective film on the skin's surface, helping to reduce transepidermal water loss and improve skin hydration. It also enhances the texture and feel of products, contributing to a smooth, non-greasy finish. For haircare, it aids in detangling and improves combability while adding shine and manageability to the hair shaft.

The ingredient demonstrates good stability across a wide pH range and is compatible with many common cosmetic ingredients. It is particularly effective in leave-on formulations such as serums, lotions, and hair treatments. While generally well-tolerated, individuals with sensitive skin or a history of allergic reactions to methacrylates should exercise caution. As with any cosmetic ingredient, patch testing is recommended before widespread use.
