GLYCOL DIMETHACRYLATE
Description
Glycol Dimethacrylate (GDMA) is a multifunctional monomer widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations, particularly in nail care products and hair styling agents. This clear, colorless liquid is characterized by its low viscosity and excellent polymerization properties. GDMA belongs to the family of methacrylate esters and is synthesized through the reaction of methacrylic acid with ethylene glycol.
In haircare formulations, GDMA serves as a film-forming agent and contributes to the creation of long-lasting, flexible hairstyles. It enhances the hold and durability of hair styling products, such as gels, mousses, and sprays. When polymerized, GDMA forms a transparent, water-resistant film that helps to maintain hair shape and protect against humidity.
GDMA's molecular structure allows for cross-linking during polymerization, resulting in improved adhesion and resistance to wear. This property is particularly beneficial in nail care applications, where it enhances the durability and chip-resistance of nail polishes and artificial nail products. Additionally, GDMA's low molecular weight facilitates its incorporation into various cosmetic formulations, ensuring compatibility with other ingredients and ease of application.
