GLASS BEADS

Description

Glass beads are a physical exfoliant used in skincare formulations, particularly in cleansers and scrubs. These microspheres, typically made from soda-lime glass, are manufactured to be smooth, round, and uniform in size. Their diameter usually ranges from 40 to 800 micrometers, allowing for varying degrees of exfoliation intensity.

In skincare products, glass beads function by mechanically removing dead skin cells, unclogging pores, and promoting cell turnover. Unlike some natural exfoliants, they do not have sharp edges, reducing the risk of micro-tears in the skin. Glass beads are inert, non-reactive, and do not absorb product ingredients, ensuring consistent performance.

These beads are an eco-friendly alternative to plastic microbeads, as they are non-toxic and do not contribute to microplastic pollution. They are also heat-resistant and can withstand high-temperature sterilization processes during manufacturing.

However, it's important to note that glass beads should be used with caution on sensitive or inflamed skin. Overuse can lead to irritation or compromise the skin barrier. For optimal results, products containing glass beads should be used 1-2 times per week as part of a balanced skincare routine.
