GLASS
Description
Glass, a unique and innovative ingredient in skincare formulations, has gained attention for its multifaceted benefits. This finely milled, silica-based substance is engineered to microscopic particles, allowing for safe and effective topical application. Glass in skincare primarily functions as a physical exfoliant, gently removing dead skin cells and promoting cellular turnover without causing micro-tears in the skin's surface.
The silica content in glass particles contributes to improved skin texture and enhanced collagen production, potentially reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, glass particles can act as a temporary filler, smoothing out uneven skin texture and providing an immediate optical blurring effect.
Glass in skincare formulations may also serve as a delivery system for other active ingredients, allowing for controlled release and improved penetration. Its inert nature makes it suitable for sensitive skin types and reduces the risk of allergic reactions. Some formulations incorporate bioactive glass, which can release beneficial ions like calcium and silicon, supporting skin barrier function and hydration.
When used in appropriate concentrations and particle sizes, glass offers a novel approach to exfoliation and skin rejuvenation in modern skincare products.
