Gaultheria procumbens leaf oil, commonly known as wintergreen oil, is a potent natural extract derived from the leaves of the wintergreen plant. This essential oil is primarily composed of methyl salicylate, which accounts for up to 99% of its content. Methyl salicylate is a natural form of salicylic acid, renowned for its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.

In skincare formulations, wintergreen oil is utilized for its exfoliating and pore-cleansing abilities, making it particularly beneficial for acne-prone and oily skin types. Its keratolytic action helps to slough off dead skin cells and unclog pores, potentially reducing the occurrence of blackheads and whiteheads.
