FRAGARIA VESCA FRUIT
Description
Fragaria vesca fruit, commonly known as wild strawberry or woodland strawberry, is a potent botanical ingredient in skincare formulations. This small, aromatic fruit is rich in bioactive compounds that offer multiple benefits for skin health and appearance.
The extract contains high levels of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals and promote collagen synthesis. Ellagic acid, another key component, exhibits anti-inflammatory and photoprotective properties, potentially reducing UV-induced skin damage.
Fragaria vesca fruit is also a source of salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) that gently exfoliates and unclogs pores, making it beneficial for acne-prone skin. The fruit's natural alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) contribute to skin cell turnover and improved texture.
The extract's polyphenols, including anthocyanins and flavonoids, provide additional antioxidant protection and may help improve skin elasticity. These compounds also contribute to the fruit's astringent properties, which can help tighten pores and balance oil production.
In skincare products, Fragaria vesca fruit extract is often used for its brightening, exfoliating, and anti-aging effects. It's suitable for various skin types and can be incorporated into cleansers, serums, masks, and moisturizers.
