FLEXIBLE COLLODION

Description

Flexible Collodion is a specialized topical solution widely used in dermatology and medical applications. This versatile compound consists of nitrocellulose dissolved in a mixture of ether and alcohol, creating a clear, colorless liquid that forms a flexible film upon drying. When applied to the skin, Flexible Collodion creates a protective barrier that adheres firmly while allowing for natural movement.

The primary function of Flexible Collodion is to seal and protect minor wounds, abrasions, and fissures in the skin. It is particularly effective in treating conditions such as cracked fingertips, split cuticles, and minor cuts. The film-forming properties of this solution provide an occlusive environment that promotes healing and prevents contamination.

Flexible Collodion also serves as a vehicle for delivering active ingredients in various dermatological preparations. Its ability to form a lasting film makes it an ideal base for wart treatments, corns, and callus removers. The solution's flexibility distinguishes it from standard collodion, allowing for application on areas subject to movement without cracking or peeling. However, it should be used cautiously, as the solvents can cause temporary stinging upon application and may be flammable before drying.
