ETHYLHEXYL MYRISTATE

Description

Ethylhexyl Myristate is a synthetic ester derived from 2-ethylhexyl alcohol and myristic acid. This colorless, odorless liquid functions primarily as an emollient and skin-conditioning agent in cosmetic and personal care products. Its lightweight, non-greasy texture makes it an ideal ingredient for leave-on skincare formulations and color cosmetics.

The compound exhibits excellent spreadability and rapid absorption into the skin, providing a smooth, silky feel without leaving a residue. Ethylhexyl Myristate helps to soften and moisturize the skin by forming a protective barrier that reduces transepidermal water loss. It also aids in the even distribution of other active ingredients within a formulation.

In addition to its moisturizing properties, Ethylhexyl Myristate acts as a solvent for other cosmetic ingredients and can enhance the penetration of certain actives into the skin. It is commonly used in a wide range of products, including lotions, creams, sunscreens, and makeup. The ingredient is generally well-tolerated by most skin types and is considered safe for use in cosmetics at concentrations typically employed in formulations.
