DIETHYLHEXYL BUTAMIDO TRIAZONE

Description

DIETHYLHEXYL BUTAMIDO TRIAZONE, also known as Iscotrizinol or UVASORB HEB, is a highly effective organic compound used in sunscreen formulations. This oil-soluble ingredient functions as a potent UVA filter, providing broad-spectrum protection against harmful ultraviolet radiation. With a peak absorption at 311 nm, it effectively shields the skin from both UVA and UVB rays.

The molecule's large size prevents it from penetrating the skin, minimizing potential systemic absorption and reducing the risk of irritation. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable for sensitive skin types. DIETHYLHEXYL BUTAMIDO TRIAZONE exhibits excellent photostability, maintaining its protective efficacy even after prolonged sun exposure.

In formulations, it synergizes well with other UV filters, enhancing overall sun protection factor (SPF) and improving the cosmetic feel of sunscreen products. Its oil solubility allows for easy incorporation into various cosmetic bases, including creams, lotions, and oils. Typically used at concentrations between 2% and 5%, it contributes significantly to high SPF formulations without causing the white cast often associated with inorganic UV filters. This ingredient is approved for use in sunscreens in many countries, including those in the European Union, though it is not currently approved by the FDA in the United States.
