DIAMINOPYRIMIDINE OXIDE

Description

Diaminopyrimidine Oxide, also known as 2,4-Diamino-6-pyrimidinol, is a synthetic compound widely used in haircare formulations. This water-soluble ingredient primarily functions as a hair growth stimulant and is often found in products designed to combat hair loss and thinning. Its molecular structure allows it to penetrate the hair follicle and interact with cellular mechanisms responsible for hair growth.

The compound works by inhibiting dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone linked to hair loss, particularly in individuals with androgenetic alopecia. By reducing DHT activity in the scalp, Diaminopyrimidine Oxide helps to prolong the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle and minimize follicle miniaturization. Clinical studies have shown it can increase hair density and improve the overall appearance of thinning hair when used consistently.

In haircare formulations, Diaminopyrimidine Oxide is typically incorporated at concentrations between 0.1% to 3%. It is often combined with other hair-fortifying ingredients such as panthenol, biotin, and niacinamide for enhanced efficacy. While generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience mild scalp irritation. As with any hair growth treatment, results may vary, and consistent long-term use is recommended for optimal outcomes.
