DIALLYLDIMETHYL AMMONIUM CHLORIDE
Description
Diallyldimethyl Ammonium Chloride (DADMAC) is a quaternary ammonium compound widely used in haircare formulations. This cationic polymer serves as an effective conditioning agent, providing numerous benefits to hair products. DADMAC's positively charged molecules adhere to the negatively charged hair surface, creating a protective film that enhances manageability and reduces static.
In shampoos and conditioners, DADMAC improves wet and dry combing, increases hair softness, and enhances shine. It is particularly effective in leave-in treatments and deep conditioning masks, where its substantivity allows for prolonged effects. DADMAC's film-forming properties help to smooth the hair cuticle, reducing frizz and flyaways while providing heat protection.
This ingredient is compatible with a wide range of haircare formulations and works synergistically with other conditioning agents. DADMAC is stable across various pH levels and temperatures, ensuring consistent performance in diverse product types. While it is generally well-tolerated, some individuals with sensitive scalps may experience irritation with prolonged use. As with all haircare ingredients, patch testing is recommended before widespread application.
