DI-METHOXYCINNAMIDOPROPYL ETHYLDIMONIUM CHLORIDE ETHER

Description

DI-METHOXYCINNAMIDOPROPYL ETHYLDIMONIUM CHLORIDE ETHER is a quaternary ammonium compound primarily used in haircare formulations. This multifunctional ingredient serves as a conditioning agent, static control element, and hair softener. Its molecular structure allows it to bond effectively with hair proteins, providing a protective film on the hair shaft.

The compound's cinnamidopropyl group contributes to its ability to smooth the hair cuticle, reducing friction between strands and enhancing manageability. The ethyldimonium chloride portion of the molecule imparts a positive charge, which helps neutralize the negative charge on damaged hair, minimizing frizz and flyaways.

In shampoos and conditioners, this ingredient can improve wet and dry combing properties, increase hair shine, and provide a silky feel to the hair. It is particularly beneficial for chemically treated or heat-damaged hair, as it can help restore some of the lost moisture and improve overall hair texture.

While generally well-tolerated, as with any quaternary ammonium compound, it may cause irritation in some individuals with sensitive scalps. It is typically used in concentrations of 0.5-2% in haircare products.
