DECETH-8

Description

Deceth-8 is a versatile synthetic emollient and emulsifier commonly used in skincare and personal care formulations. This ethoxylated fatty alcohol is derived from decyl alcohol and has undergone a process of ethoxylation to improve its solubility and compatibility with various cosmetic ingredients.

As a non-ionic surfactant, Deceth-8 helps to reduce surface tension between oil and water phases, enabling the creation of stable emulsions in lotions, creams, and other skincare products. Its emollient properties contribute to a smooth, silky feel on the skin, enhancing the overall texture of formulations.

Deceth-8 is particularly valued for its ability to improve the spreadability of products and aid in the even distribution of active ingredients. It also functions as a mild cleansing agent, making it suitable for use in gentle facial cleansers and body washes. Additionally, this ingredient can act as a solubilizer, helping to incorporate fragrances and essential oils into water-based formulations.

While generally well-tolerated, Deceth-8 is primarily used in rinse-off products due to its potential for mild irritation in leave-on applications at higher concentrations.
