DECETH-5
Description
Deceth-5 is a versatile synthetic emollient and surfactant commonly used in skincare and personal care formulations. This ethoxylated fatty alcohol is derived from decyl alcohol and modified with five moles of ethylene oxide, resulting in a clear, colorless liquid with excellent solubilizing properties.
As a non-ionic surfactant, Deceth-5 helps to reduce surface tension between oil and water phases, promoting the formation of stable emulsions in various cosmetic products. It functions as an effective cleansing agent, assisting in the removal of dirt, oil, and other impurities from the skin without causing excessive dryness or irritation.
Deceth-5 also acts as a mild emollient, providing a smooth and soft feel to the skin upon application. Its low molecular weight allows for easy spreadability and quick absorption, making it suitable for lightweight formulations. This ingredient is particularly useful in creating clear gel-based products and can enhance the solubility of fragrances and other oil-soluble components in water-based systems.
Due to its gentle nature and multifunctional properties, Deceth-5 is frequently incorporated into facial cleansers, body washes, and other skincare products designed for sensitive skin types.
