CROTONIC ACID

Description

Crotonic acid is a short-chain unsaturated carboxylic acid with the molecular formula C4H6O2. This organic compound is a derivative of butyric acid and exists as a white crystalline solid at room temperature. In skincare formulations, crotonic acid serves multiple purposes, primarily as a pH adjuster and a mild exfoliant.

The molecule's structure allows it to penetrate the skin's outer layers, promoting gentle exfoliation and potentially enhancing the absorption of other active ingredients.
