COCO-ETHYLDIMONIUM ETHOSULFATE
Description
COCO-ETHYLDIMONIUM ETHOSULFATE is a cationic surfactant and conditioning agent commonly used in hair care and skincare formulations. This quaternary ammonium compound is derived from coconut oil fatty acids and features a positively charged hydrophilic head with a hydrophobic tail. Its unique structure allows it to adsorb onto negatively charged surfaces, such as hair and skin, providing excellent conditioning and anti-static properties.
In hair care products, COCO-ETHYLDIMONIUM ETHOSULFATE improves detangling, reduces frizz, and enhances overall manageability. It forms a thin, protective film on the hair shaft, which helps to smooth the cuticle and increase shine. In skincare formulations, it acts as an emollient and helps to improve the texture and spreadability of products.
This ingredient is particularly effective in leave-in conditioners, hair masks, and moisturizing creams. It is compatible with a wide range of other cosmetic ingredients and performs well in both acidic and alkaline environments. COCO-ETHYLDIMONIUM ETHOSULFATE is biodegradable and considered safe for use in cosmetic applications when used at appropriate concentrations. However, as with any ingredient, patch testing is recommended for individuals with sensitive skin or known allergies.
