CI 45100

Description

CI 45100, also known as Acid Red 52 or Food Red 106, is a synthetic red dye commonly used in cosmetic and personal care products. This water-soluble colorant belongs to the xanthene dye family and is characterized by its bright red hue with a slight fluorescent quality.

In skincare and cosmetic formulations, CI 45100 is primarily utilized for its coloring properties in products such as lipsticks, blushes, and other color cosmetics. It is also found in some hair dyes and nail polishes. The dye is approved by the FDA for use in cosmetics and is considered safe when used as directed.

CI 45100 exhibits good stability in various product formulations and resists fading under normal light exposure. However, it may be sensitive to certain pH levels and can change color in highly acidic or alkaline environments. Formulators should consider this when incorporating the dye into products.

While generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience sensitivity or allergic reactions to CI 45100. As with any colorant, patch testing is recommended for those with sensitive skin or a history of allergic reactions to cosmetic ingredients.
