Description

CI 27290, also known as Acid Red 73 or Brilliant Crocein MOO, is a synthetic azo dye used in cosmetic and personal care products. This water-soluble colorant imparts a vibrant red hue to various formulations, including soaps, shampoos, and skincare products. Its molecular structure allows for excellent stability in a wide range of pH levels, making it versatile for different product types.

The dye is approved for use in cosmetics by regulatory bodies in many countries, including the European Union and the United States FDA. However, its use is restricted to rinse-off products in some regions due to potential skin sensitization concerns. CI 27290 is not recommended for use around the eye area or in products intended for lip application.

In formulations, CI 27290 is typically used at low concentrations, ranging from 0.001% to 0.1%, depending on the desired color intensity and product type.
