Description

Chlorhexidine is a powerful, broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent widely used in medical and skincare applications. This biguanide compound effectively combats a wide range of bacteria, fungi, and some viruses, making it a valuable ingredient in various topical formulations. Chlorhexidine's mechanism of action involves disrupting microbial cell membranes, leading to cell death and preventing bacterial colonization.

In dermatology, chlorhexidine is commonly employed in pre-surgical skin preparation, wound care, and treatment of skin infections.
