Description

Cetyl palmitate is a synthetic ester composed of cetyl alcohol and palmitic acid, commonly used in cosmetic and skincare formulations. This waxy, white solid serves as an effective emollient and thickening agent, contributing to the texture and stability of various products. With its ability to form a protective barrier on the skin, cetyl palmitate helps prevent moisture loss and enhances the skin's softness and smoothness.

This ingredient is particularly valuable in lip balms, lotions, and creams due to its occlusive properties. It aids in creating a silky, non-greasy feel while improving product spreadability. Cetyl palmitate is generally well-tolerated by most skin types and is considered non-comedogenic, making it suitable for use in facial products.

In addition to its moisturizing benefits, cetyl palmitate can act as a co-emulsifier, helping to stabilize oil-in-water emulsions. It also exhibits some UV-absorbing properties, potentially offering mild sun protection when used in conjunction with other UV filters.
