CETOLETH-22
Description
Cetoleth-22 is a versatile synthetic emulsifier and surfactant widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. This polyethylene glycol (PEG) ether of cetyl alcohol is characterized by its ability to form stable oil-in-water emulsions, making it an essential ingredient in various skincare and haircare products.
With an HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) value of approximately 16, Cetoleth-22 excels at dispersing oils and lipids in aqueous solutions. It functions as both an emulsifier and solubilizer, enhancing the texture and stability of creams, lotions, and cleansers. This ingredient also exhibits mild cleansing properties and can act as a thickening agent in certain formulations.
Cetoleth-22 is particularly beneficial in products designed for dry or sensitive skin, as it helps to create lightweight, non-greasy emulsions that are easily absorbed. Its emollient properties contribute to improved skin feel and hydration. In haircare applications, it aids in the even distribution of conditioning agents and helps to reduce static electricity.
While generally considered safe for topical use, individuals with extremely sensitive skin should perform patch tests before regular application of products containing Cetoleth-22.
