CETEARETH-60
Description
CETEARETH-60 is a versatile emulsifying and solubilizing agent widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. This non-ionic surfactant is derived from the ethoxylation of cetearyl alcohol, a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohols. With a high Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance (HLB) value of approximately 19, CETEARETH-60 excels at creating stable oil-in-water emulsions and enhancing the solubility of various ingredients.
In skincare products, CETEARETH-60 functions as an emulsifier, helping to blend oil and water-based components seamlessly. It also acts as a thickening agent, contributing to the desired texture and viscosity of formulations. The ingredient's solubilizing properties make it valuable for incorporating fragrances, essential oils, and other oil-soluble actives into water-based systems.
CETEARETH-60 is particularly effective in cleansing formulations, where it aids in the removal of dirt, oil, and makeup. Its gentle nature makes it suitable for use in products designed for sensitive skin. While generally well-tolerated, as with all ethoxylated ingredients, there is a small risk of contamination with 1,4-dioxane, a potential carcinogen. Reputable manufacturers employ vacuum stripping techniques to minimize this risk.
