CETEARETH-40
Description
Ceteareth-40 is a versatile emulsifying and solubilizing agent widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations. This nonionic surfactant is derived from the ethoxylation of cetearyl alcohol, a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohols. With an average of 40 ethylene oxide units per molecule, Ceteareth-40 exhibits excellent water solubility and emulsifying properties.
In skincare products, Ceteareth-40 functions as an effective emulsifier, helping to combine oil and water-based ingredients into stable, homogeneous formulations. It also acts as a mild cleansing agent and helps improve the spreadability of creams and lotions. Due to its high molecular weight, Ceteareth-40 has a low potential for skin penetration, making it suitable for sensitive skin formulations.
This ingredient is particularly useful in creating clear gel formulations and in solubilizing fragrances and essential oils in aqueous systems. Ceteareth-40 contributes to the smooth texture of products and can enhance their moisturizing properties. It is compatible with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients and is effective across various pH levels, making it a valuable component in diverse skincare formulations.
