CETEARETH-14

Description

Ceteareth-14 is a versatile emulsifying and solubilizing agent widely used in skincare and cosmetic formulations. This synthetic ingredient is derived from cetearyl alcohol and ethylene oxide, resulting in a nonionic surfactant with excellent emulsification properties. Ceteareth-14 has an HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) value of approximately 14, making it particularly effective at stabilizing oil-in-water emulsions.

In skincare products, Ceteareth-14 serves multiple functions. It helps blend oil and water-based ingredients, creating stable and uniform formulations. This property is crucial for maintaining product consistency and preventing separation during storage. Additionally, Ceteareth-14 acts as a mild cleansing agent and can enhance the spreadability of creams and lotions.

The ingredient also functions as a solubilizer, aiding in the incorporation of fragrances and other oil-soluble components into water-based formulations. Its mild nature makes it suitable for use in a wide range of skincare products, including moisturizers, cleansers, and sunscreens. While generally well-tolerated, individuals with sensitive skin should perform a patch test before using products containing Ceteareth-14, as with any new skincare ingredient.
