Description

Caprylylalkonium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound widely used in hair care and cosmetic formulations. This cationic surfactant serves multiple purposes, primarily as a conditioning agent and preservative. Its molecular structure consists of a positively charged nitrogen atom bonded to alkyl groups, providing both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties.

In hair care products, Caprylylalkonium Chloride acts as an effective detangling and conditioning agent. It reduces static electricity and improves the overall manageability of hair by forming a thin, protective film on the hair shaft. This film helps to smooth the cuticle, resulting in increased shine and reduced frizz.

As a preservative, Caprylylalkonium Chloride exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi, and some viruses. This property helps extend the shelf life of cosmetic formulations and protects against microbial contamination.
