Common Name(s): C29-70 acid,ultra-long chain fatty acid,ulcfa mixture c29-c70
DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Provides a very waxy, lubricating film in lipsticks and anhydrous formulas.
Why It's Used: Broader carbon chain range (c29-c70) than c40-60 acid; provides diverse waxy character spanning both medium-long and very long chain fatty acid lengths.
How It Works: Very long saturated hydrocarbon chains (c29-c70) provide very high melting point wax characteristics; the broader chain range creates a more amorphous wax structure than narrowly distributed cuts.
Typically Found In: Lipsticks,anhydrous balms,stick formulations,wax blends,color cosmetics
TECHNICAL DETAILS
Primary Category: Functional ingredient โ emollient
Secondary Functions: Viscosity controlling,film forming

SOURCING & ETHICS
Vegan Status: Yes
Halal Status: Yes
Source Notes: Synthetic very long chain fatty acids from petroleum or fischer-tropsch synthesis.
SKIN COMPATIBILITY
Irritancy Rating: 1/5 โ very low
Comedogenicity Rating: 1/5 โ low
Sensitivity Concerns: Very inert; generally non-irritating.
Safe for Sensitive Skin: Yes
SAFETY & COMPATIBILITY
Safety Profile: Good safety profile. ewg score: 1.
Works Well With: Waxes,silicones,emollients,natural butters
Avoid Combining With: No significant incompatibilities
SCIENTIFIC NOTE
C29-70 acid mixtures with a wider distribution than c40-60 create more amorphous wax structures; this provides softer application and less graininess in stick formulations; similar functionality to natural carnauba/candelilla wax c-acid fractions.
