BUGLOSSOIDES ARVENSIS SEED OIL

Description

Buglossoides arvensis seed oil, also known as Ahiflower oil, is a plant-derived oil extracted from the seeds of the Buglossoides arvensis plant. This oil has gained attention in the skincare and cosmetic industry due to its unique composition of omega fatty acids. It is particularly rich in stearidonic acid (SDA), an omega-3 fatty acid, and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid.

The high concentration of SDA in Buglossoides arvensis seed oil makes it an efficient precursor to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), which is crucial for maintaining skin barrier function and reducing inflammation. GLA further contributes to skin health by supporting the production of prostaglandin E1, a compound that helps regulate skin moisture and elasticity.

This oil exhibits potent anti-inflammatory properties, making it beneficial for conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. Its ability to enhance skin hydration and improve barrier function makes it an excellent ingredient for moisturizers and anti-aging formulations. Buglossoides arvensis seed oil is also rich in antioxidants, which help protect the skin from free radical damage and environmental stressors.
