BORAGE SEED OIL/HYDROGENATED BORAGE SEED OIL ESTERS

Description

Borage Seed Oil and its hydrogenated esters are derived from the seeds of the Borago officinalis plant, commonly known as starflower. This ingredient is prized in skincare formulations for its high content of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid crucial for maintaining skin health and barrier function.

The oil is rich in essential fatty acids, particularly GLA, which comprises up to 25% of its composition. This makes it exceptionally beneficial for addressing inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. Borage Seed Oil exhibits emollient properties, effectively moisturizing and softening the skin without leaving a greasy residue.

Hydrogenated Borage Seed Oil Esters offer enhanced stability and a lighter feel compared to the raw oil. This modification allows for improved shelf life and versatility in various skincare formulations. The esters retain many of the beneficial properties of the original oil while providing a smoother, more easily absorbed texture.

Both forms of this ingredient demonstrate anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, helping to soothe irritated skin and protect against environmental stressors. They are particularly effective in products designed for dry, sensitive, or mature skin types, promoting elasticity and reducing the appearance of fine lines.
