Description

Benzoyl Peroxide is a potent and widely used topical medication in acne treatment. This synthetic organic compound functions as a powerful antimicrobial agent, effectively targeting and eliminating acne-causing bacteria, particularly Propionibacterium acnes. Its mechanism of action involves releasing oxygen upon contact with the skin, creating an inhospitable environment for anaerobic bacteria.

Available in various concentrations ranging from 2.5% to 10%, Benzoyl Peroxide is found in over-the-counter and prescription formulations. It exhibits keratolytic properties, promoting the shedding of dead skin cells and preventing pore blockages.
