Description

Benzophenone-1, also known as 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone, is a synthetic organic compound widely used in skincare and cosmetic formulations as a UV filter. This ingredient belongs to the benzophenone family and is primarily employed to protect the skin from harmful UVB rays, which are responsible for sunburn and contribute to premature aging.

With a molecular formula of C13H10O3, benzophenone-1 functions by absorbing UV radiation and converting it into less damaging forms of energy, such as heat. Its effectiveness in the UVB spectrum (280-320 nm) makes it a valuable component in sunscreens and other photoprotective products.
