Description

Beheneth-5 is a non-ionic surfactant and emulsifier derived from behenic acid, a saturated fatty acid found in various plant oils. This synthetic ingredient is commonly used in cosmetic and skincare formulations to enhance product stability and texture. As an ethoxylated fatty alcohol, Beheneth-5 contains five ethylene oxide units, which contribute to its moderate hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) value.

In skincare products, Beheneth-5 primarily functions as an emulsifier, helping to blend oil and water-based ingredients into a stable, homogeneous mixture. It also acts as a mild cleansing agent and can improve the spreadability of formulations.
