Description

Beeswax is a natural, versatile ingredient widely used in skincare and cosmetic formulations. Produced by honey bees, this complex substance consists primarily of esters, fatty acids, and long-chain alcohols. Its unique composition grants beeswax a low melting point and excellent emollient properties, making it ideal for various topical applications.

In skincare, beeswax functions as an occlusive agent, forming a protective barrier on the skin's surface to lock in moisture and shield against environmental stressors. This barrier-forming ability also aids in wound healing and can help soothe irritated skin. Beeswax exhibits mild anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, potentially benefiting acne-prone or sensitive skin types.

Formulators value beeswax for its ability to stabilize emulsions and increase the viscosity of products, resulting in improved texture and consistency. It's commonly found in lip balms, salves, creams, and ointments.
