Description

Basic Red 118, also known as Disperse Red 17, is a synthetic azo dye commonly used in hair coloring products. This vivid red pigment is particularly effective in semi-permanent and temporary hair dye formulations, providing intense, vibrant results on a variety of hair types and colors.

The molecule's structure allows for effective penetration into the hair shaft, resulting in longer-lasting color compared to some other temporary dyes. Basic Red 118 is often combined with other dyes to create a wide range of red and purple shades, from subtle auburn tints to bold, statement-making crimsons.

While effective for hair coloring, it's important to note that Basic Red 118 is not approved for use in cosmetics intended for application around the eyes or on mucous membranes.
