BASIC BROWN 16

Description

Basic Brown 16 is a synthetic hair dye molecule belonging to the azo dye family, widely used in temporary and semi-permanent hair coloring products. This water-soluble compound imparts warm brown tones to hair, ranging from light to medium shades depending on concentration and application method. Unlike permanent hair dyes, Basic Brown 16 does not penetrate the hair cortex but adheres to the cuticle, making it a gentler option for frequent color changes.

The dye molecule is relatively large, which contributes to its wash-out properties, typically lasting 4-6 shampoos. Basic Brown 16 is often combined with other dyes to achieve a broader spectrum of brown shades and enhance color depth. It performs well on various hair types and is particularly effective on gray hair.

While generally considered safe for cosmetic use, some individuals may experience scalp irritation or allergic reactions. Patch testing is recommended before use. Basic Brown 16 is not approved for use around the eye area. When formulating with this ingredient, it's essential to consider pH levels, as the dye's performance can be affected by highly acidic or alkaline environments. Proper storage in cool, dry conditions is crucial to maintain the dye's efficacy and color integrity.
