Despite its pleasant aroma, concerns have been raised regarding its safety and potential health risks.

The European Union has banned the use of Lilial in cosmetic products due to its classification as a Category 1B reproductive toxicant. This classification indicates that the ingredient may potentially harm fertility or cause developmental issues in unborn children. As a result, many manufacturers are phasing out its use in favor of alternative fragrance compounds.

When present in skincare formulations, AR-ETHYLPHENYLBUTYRALDEHYDE is typically found in low concentrations, usually below 1%. However, even at these levels, it may cause skin sensitization and allergic reactions in some individuals.
