Description

Amyl formate, also known as pentyl formate, is an organic compound with the molecular formula C6H12O2. This ester is derived from formic acid and amyl alcohol, resulting in a clear, colorless liquid with a distinctive fruity aroma reminiscent of apricots or bananas. In cosmetic and personal care formulations, amyl formate serves primarily as a fragrance ingredient, imparting a pleasant scent to various products.

While its primary function is olfactory, amyl formate also exhibits mild solvent properties, which can be beneficial in certain skincare and haircare formulations. Its low molecular weight allows for easy penetration into the upper layers of the skin, potentially enhancing the delivery of other active ingredients.
