AMMONIUM CAPRYLETH SULFATE

Description

Ammonium Capryleth Sulfate is a synthetic surfactant widely used in personal care and cosmetic products for its excellent cleansing and foaming properties. This anionic surfactant is derived from fatty alcohols and is particularly effective at removing oil and dirt from the skin and hair. Its molecular structure consists of a hydrophilic head and a hydrophobic tail, allowing it to interact with both water and oily substances.

In skincare formulations, Ammonium Capryleth Sulfate is valued for its mild nature compared to some other sulfates, making it suitable for sensitive skin types. It produces a rich, stable lather and helps to emulsify oils and other ingredients in cleansing products. This ingredient is commonly found in facial cleansers, body washes, shampoos, and hand soaps.

While effective, Ammonium Capryleth Sulfate is generally less irritating than Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), a more aggressive surfactant. However, individuals with extremely sensitive skin may still experience some irritation. It is biodegradable and considered safe for use in cosmetics when formulated properly. Formulators often combine it with other surfactants to create balanced, effective cleansing systems in personal care products.
