ALUMINUM LACCATE

Description

Aluminum Laccate, also known as D&C Red No. 40 Aluminum Lake, is a synthetic colorant widely used in cosmetics and personal care products. This pigment is created by combining the water-soluble dye FD&C Red 40 with aluminum hydroxide, resulting in an insoluble, stable colorant. The laking process enhances the pigment's stability and allows for its use in a broader range of formulations, including oil-based products.

In skincare and cosmetic applications, Aluminum Laccate imparts a vibrant red to orange hue, making it popular in lipsticks, blushes, and other color cosmetics. Its particle size can be adjusted during manufacturing to achieve varying levels of opacity and color intensity. This ingredient is generally considered safe for topical use and is approved by regulatory bodies such as the FDA and EMA for use in cosmetics.

Aluminum Laccate offers excellent color payoff and adherence to the skin, contributing to long-lasting makeup formulations. It is resistant to pH changes and heat, ensuring color stability in various product types. However, individuals with sensitive skin or known allergies to dyes should exercise caution and perform patch tests before using products containing this colorant.
