Description

Aluminum chloride is a potent antiperspirant and astringent compound widely used in skincare and personal care products. This inorganic salt is composed of aluminum and chlorine atoms, forming a crystalline solid that readily dissolves in water. Its primary function in skincare is to reduce excessive sweating by temporarily blocking sweat glands.

When applied topically, aluminum chloride interacts with proteins in the sweat ducts, forming a gel-like plug that inhibits perspiration. This mechanism makes it particularly effective for treating hyperhidrosis, a condition characterized by abnormally excessive sweating. The ingredient is commonly found in high-strength antiperspirants, often in concentrations ranging from 10% to 20%.

Beyond its antiperspirant properties, aluminum chloride exhibits astringent effects, helping to tighten pores and reduce oiliness on the skin's surface. This dual action makes it beneficial for individuals with combination or oily skin types.
