ACID RED 92
Description
Acid Red 92, also known as CI 45410, is a synthetic azo dye commonly used in cosmetic and personal care products, particularly in haircare formulations. This water-soluble colorant imparts a vibrant red hue to various hair products, including shampoos, conditioners, and hair dyes. Its molecular structure allows for excellent color stability and uniform distribution in aqueous solutions.
In hair dye applications, Acid Red 92 provides long-lasting, intense red tones that can range from deep burgundy to bright cherry red, depending on the concentration and other ingredients in the formulation. It exhibits good affinity for hair fibers, resulting in consistent color uptake and reduced fading over time.
While primarily used in haircare, Acid Red 92 may also be found in select skincare and makeup products to provide a reddish tint. However, its use in leave-on skin products is limited due to potential skin sensitization concerns in some individuals. As with all colorants, patch testing is recommended before widespread use, especially for those with sensitive skin or a history of allergic reactions to hair dyes.
