ACETYLATED LANOLIN

Description

Acetylated lanolin is a modified form of lanolin, a natural wax derived from sheep's wool. This ingredient undergoes acetylation, a chemical process that alters its molecular structure, enhancing its properties for use in skincare and haircare formulations. The acetylation process reduces the characteristic odor of lanolin while improving its stability and emollient qualities.

In skincare, acetylated lanolin functions as an effective occlusive agent, forming a protective barrier on the skin's surface to prevent moisture loss. It exhibits excellent moisturizing properties, helping to soften and smooth dry, rough skin. This ingredient is particularly beneficial in lip care products and hand creams due to its ability to withstand washing and provide long-lasting hydration.

For haircare applications, acetylated lanolin serves as a conditioning agent, imparting shine and manageability to hair strands. It helps to reduce frizz and static, making it a valuable component in leave-in conditioners and styling products. Unlike regular lanolin, acetylated lanolin is less likely to cause allergic reactions, making it suitable for a wider range of consumers. However, individuals with wool allergies should still exercise caution when using products containing this ingredient.
